An icon in the entertainment industry with over 60 years of experience in the field, Mr. Massey is a veteran of television, radio and theatre. Included in his acting resume are the roles of President Theodore Roosevelt (Teddy) in television’s Hallmark Hall of Fame production ‘Cooke and Peary: A Race to the Pole' with Rod Steiger and Richard Chamberlain, Doc Stewart in the classic television series 'Lassie', Sir Winston Churchill for Radio-Canada in French, and Herb Hall in 'Hart to Hart: 3/4 Time' with Stefanie Powers and Robert Wagner. Mr. Massey also played principal roles in ongoing premiere French Television series out of Quebec, as Dan Dorrison in ‘Les Belles Histoires du Pays en Haut’ and MacLeish (a roaming Scottish ghost) in ‘Edgar Allen, Detective’. He starred as Tom Temple in the long-running courtroom TV series ‘Family Court’ and continues as the voice of Principal Haney in the Emmy Award winning children's TV series, 'Arthur'.
Mr. Massey studied in the Professional Broadway Workshops of Harold Clurman and Sanford Meisner. He was part of the inaugural production of Joseph Papp's NY Shakespeare Festival, playing the role of Brutus in 'Julius Caesar'. In Canada, he has enjoyed many successes with the country's major Theatres, such as The Stratford Shakespeare Festival, The National Arts Centre, Manitoba Theatre Centre, Citadel Theatre, Fredericton Playhouse, Centaur Theatre, Saidye Bronfman/Segal Centre and the cherished Mountain Playhouse in Montreal, for which he was also a resident Director.
Mr. Massey co-founded two Theatres in Canada: The Kings Theatre in Prince Edward Island and The Piggery Theatre in Quebec. He also joined a group of writers to start up what is now the successful Playwrights Workshop in Montreal. With the help of America's Actors Equity Association, he helped institute and establish Canada's current Canadian Actors Equity Association (CAEA) and served on its governing bodies, both locally and nationally, for over 34 years. He likewise aided in the establishment of Canada's Association of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists (ACTRA). As a reward for his devotion and service to these organizations, Mr. Massey was awarded two Lifetime Achievement awards: The Larry McCance Silver Cup (CAEA) and The Montreal ACTRA Award of Excellence.
Mr. Massey has enjoyed many accomplishments and proud moments working with the best in the business: Charleton Heston in a revival of 'Mr. Roberts' on Broadway, directed by John Forsythe; Oliver Reed, Raymond Burr, John Ireland, Susan George and Donald Pleasence in the television movie 'Tomorrow Never Comes'; Martin Landau and Edward James Olmos in 'Bonanno: A Godfather's Story' and with Robert De Niro in 'Jacknife', both movies for television. One of the most challenging and satisfying projects he experienced was playing the part of Doctor Norman Bethune's Grandfather in a Chinese/Canadian TV co-production of 'Bethune', in which he was also asked to write and direct some of the scenes - the challenge being that the crew for the film was half English and half Chinese - neither half able to speak the other's language. Two very harassed interpreters joined the confusion, and laughter constantly erupted on the set, aborting all efforts to stick to any reasonably defined scheduling.
During his collegiate career, Mr. Massey earned a Bachelor’s degree in Arts and Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario, in Canada and completed studies in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy and Engineering Administration at The Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It was during these days that Walter became highly involved in university and community theatre productions. He won many awards and critical kudos for his acting ability. It was his love for acting that withdrew him from academia into the hustle and bustle of the New York Theatre scene. From there, he began his career performing in the United States at the Allenberry Playhouse in Pennsylvania and the famous Playhouse theatre in Houston, Texas. He played such roles as Tony in ‘Dial ‘M’ for Murder’, Starbuck in ‘The Rainmaker’ and Claudius in ‘Hamlet’. Favorite performances in Canada include George in ‘Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf’ for Canada’s National Arts Centre in Ottawa, and Lord Brockhurst in ‘The Boyfriend’ and Jerry in ‘Two for the Seesaw’ at the Mountain Playhouse in Montreal.
Returning to Canada to join in the creation of the performer associations Equity and ACTRA, he helped lay the groundwork for the establishment of drama courses at both the University of Waterloo, Ontario and, with President Father Malone, at Loyola College/Concordia University in Montreal. He traveled extensively throughout Eastern Canada on behalf of the Canadian government, encouraging the growth of theatre across the provinces. And he ran Les Troubadours, the On-Site Entertainment for Montreal’s Expo ‘67.
In 1928, Walter Edward Hart Massey II (named after his grandfather) was born in the city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He belonged to a Canadian First Family that had, as its distinguished patriarchs, cousin Vincent Massey (Canada’s first Canadian Governor General), cousin Raymond Massey (Hollywood Star) and his father, Denton Massey (Parliamentarian, Entrepreneur and nationally acclaimed Bible Class Leader, who later would become a devout Reverend Canon of the Anglican Church). His great grandfather founded the world-renowned Massey-Harris Company. His grandfather not only ran that company, but also started the Borden’s Milk Company and Lever Bros. (soap manufacturer) in Canada. His grandmother, Susan Denton Massey, equally successful in her own right, became one of the most respected financiers Canada produced in her time.

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT - ILLUSTRATIONS for perusal, subterranean housing, subsea platform for the exploration of rare earths minerals, a lunar outpost.
Ancillary: Designed to harvest the rainfalls, the building layout of the courtyard can be covered with a canopy of plants for shade and good quality fresh air; the almost flat roof can become a roof garden. For natural warmth inside the rooms on sunny winter days the spaces between them can be covered with glass enclosures.
