Mr. Hickton serves as Executive Director of the North American Pet Health Insurance Association. Mr. Hickton was employed for twelve years with FORTUNE 50 Company leading special event planning, logistics support for mergers and acquisitions, product launches and sports related marketing. He then was recruited to the largest veterinary practice in the United States to direct communications and product branding. In 2003, Mr. Hickton conceived and developed a specialty boutique public relations firm, Salmon Creek Public Relations. The firm has represented the interests of animal health, pet products and humane organizations. The firm and Mr. Hickton received international attention for their work for the interests of a large national beef distribution company during the Mad Cow / BSE crisis in Washington State 2003. Mr. Hickton’s firm provides community and investor relations for multiple public traded micro-cap companies and also provides strategy and services for entertainment interests including athletes, authors, film studios, movie producers and sporting events.

Loran Hickton is focused on pet health insurance as a means to reduce economic euthanasia of pets. Too many pet owners are not prepared to provide some of the needed and unexpected care. Society has changed and many now view their pets as part of the family. When care is needed, a majority would like to provide the same care they would want for themselves. With the societal change of the view of pets as family members, more options for care are now provided. This means an increase in cost and a further void in the ability for some pet owners to provide care. The pet health insurance industry is growing and becoming a major industry and force in pet health care. Mr. Hickton is gratified to be a part of this new industry and the ever growing impact it provides for pets, people and related business.
Mr. Hickton continues to accept clients that requires creative communications and consumer strategy. He is also venturing into creative writing as an author.
