MY HISTORY
Born in communist East Germany I never had a chance to go my own ways, to establish a business, to become my own boss, or even to travel freely! After some terrible years in communism and some attempts to escape they eventually kicked me out of the country - very official and within less than 24 hours! I didn't know whether I'd see my family in the East again, but after 1/2 year the wall bewteen the East and West came down! Anyway, my future was certain: wherever I lived in Germany, I was a stranger in both sides. Too many people in the East had spied on me for the state security [Stasi], almost my whole neighbourhood, teachers, friends etc that made it mentally unbearable to return to my home village [my Stasi files were over 540 pages thick!]. On the other hand I was not treated equally in West Germany and I found it difficult to live there too. Two holidays in Australia opened my eyes and in 1996 I immigrated to the land downunder called Australia! Always wanted to establish a tour guiding business in Australia and after 3 years of struggling I eventually succeeded! However, after many years in business my batteries were flat, the job was too exhausting, so I looked for a new business avenue and I found it in 2007 when I purchased one of the most beautiful properties in Alice Springs to build a bed & Breakfast on it! I still do the occasional day tours but set priority to the B&B!
