About Stephen Davies
After arriving in Canada, Stephen worked for a large teaching hospital. This opportunity provided Stephen with a grounding knowledge of not-for-profit issues, one that he did not have working in the private industry in the UK.
With more than two decades of experience working in the field, Stephen views his greatest accomplishments to fit in at the time he has spent in transitioning the Pearson Centre from an organization reliant on government funding to be a self-sufficient organization that is both dynamic and cost effective.
Stephen achieved this by reducing the organizations HR footprint, improving and standardizing processes and restructing the company organization. He also worked with the Pearson Centre's partners to provide more value added services to allow them to concentrate on their operations. Stephen states, "This resulted in an 80 percent reduction in costs, and has well positioned the Centre for the future."

Produce Exercise and Training for International Military, Judicial, Police and Civilian
The Pearson Centre was founded in 1994 in Nova Scotia with two objectives; to reduce the impact of a military base closure in the Atlantic region, and to provide the Government of Canada with an organization that would provide research, education and training in the international environment that would reflect Canada’s leadership on the world stage. From its founding to 31 March 2012, it was partially funded by the government; however, it is now a self-sufficient professional services organization that provides professional services to a wide range of clients, including governments, the private sector, and the humanitarian community.
The Pearson Centre was the first civilian led institution dealing with post-Cold War peace and security thinking and training. It coined the phrase “the new peacekeeping partnership” acknowledging the interconnected approach that would be necessary if peace and security were to be sustainable in post-conflict environments. The Centre also led in applied research in the rule of law, linking policing to corrections and courts. Linking the military with police and civilian organisations in a continuing effort to enhance the coordination and cooperation among the various stakeholders who work in the continuum of conflict prevention towards sustainable peace.
