About Rosemary Makhan
I grew up in Mill Village, Nova Scotia (near Shubenacadie) and learned quilt making skills from my mother, Ruth. She was an elementary school teacher and we often used to quilt after our lessons were done and during the summer vacation. My love of Home Economics classes led me to study at the Nova Scotis Teachers college and at Acadia University. I taught Family Studies for several years in Etobicoke and Oakville. I started teaching quilting classes in 1975 and together with my students formed the Halton Quilters' Guild in 1977. Since that time I have taught classes, workshops and lectured throughtout Canada and the United States. That Patchwork Place has published 6 of my books and I have self published many patterns and books through my company Quilts by Rosemary. I especially enjoy teaching and sharing my work with other quilters. It's very rewarding for me to see my students develop their quilting skills and I love to hear if they win awards when using my patterns.Location of Member
