About Peter Holstein
I started my first career as a 15 year old joining the Royal Australian Navy in 1972. I spent 21 years full-time service in the RAN reaching the pinnacle of my career as a Warrant Officer specialising in Fire and Safety and Drug and Alcohol Counselling. I commenced my second career upon my retirement from the RAN at age 35 starting AEROWASP Helicopters Pty Ltd assuming the positions of Chief Pilot and Chief Flying Instructor 12 months later. I have over 9000 accident-free flying hours in both helicopters and fixed wing aircraft holding Grade One Instructor Ratings in both aircraft types. Aircraft types endorsed include most fixed wing types, including twin engine and small jets and most helicopter types operated in Australia. I am a Justice of the Peace and hold the Defence Forces Service Medal (with clasp) (DFSM) and the Australian Defence Medal (ADM). I have qualifications in Forensic Medicine and Forensic Psychology having completed a certificate course at Westmead Hospital in Western Sydney two years ago. I am an active member in the Aviation Industry having recently been appointed by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) as the Project Manager for the writing of the Helicopter Instructor Manual. I am also active in the Australian and New Zealand Forensic Science Society (ANZFSS). I adore travelling and try to get away, preferably overseas, at least once a year; this year visiting South Africa and Kenya once again. I was recently presented with a Master Air Pilot certificate by the Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators of London, Certificate Number 1045.
