I wears three hats for the paper these days -- general manager and publisher as well as being part of the creative department. Since 2007 I took on the general manager/publisher job on top of my work with ad design and layout.
There is a staff of the eight employees (two part time), six are women. "We're a good team together,"
I have been through a lot of changes in her nearly 15 years with the paper. I started out in the creative services department as one of three individuals designing advertisements. That was back in 1995. "That's when we did the ads and did paste-up. There were lots of late nights."
Even though I am the manager, I still produces 75 percent of the advertisements. "The rest are done in the ad design department at a sister paper.
"I've been through four owners. Each one made it a stronger and better newspaper."
When the paper turned to digital technology a lot changed. The newspaper has changed with the times and with each new owner came new technology." Now we're all electronic." I like my job a lot. "Every day is something new. Customer service is always our number one concern. That and getting the news to our dedicated readers."
I have been married to my husband Jim for the past 24 years and they raised one daughter, Tiffany. She and Jim live in Keithsburg, IL. They have one grandchild, Colton.
In my spare time I like landscaping, I find it relaxing to be outside working in the yard. I also enjoy riding motorcycles. I took part in a safety course offered at a local college and received my motorcycle license about three years ago.
I still am very interested in the community and city government.
