About Marilyn Pearce
I established Home Occupational Therapy Services in 1982, working part-time in home visiting after leaving Royal Perth Hospital to take maternity leave. Here, I began subcontracting Occupational Therapy services to the Department of Veterans Affairs as a ‘panel therapist’. I worked fulltime for many years, varying the amount and type of work during this time. It was not until 2001, when I began strategic planning that I developed a vision to employ staff, providing a greater variety of Occupational Therapy services to a greater clientele in Perth.
'HOTS' created its second Occupational Therapist position in 2006, then employing two therapists fulltime in home visiting (still predominately servicing Veterans Affairs clients). At this point a small 'HOTS' office was established in Myaree and a part-time administrative position was established. Since then, 'HOTS' has expanded its services from merely DVA clients, to service many private clients, and service government programs in the community. 'HOTS' services have also expanded into rehabilitation in the community over this time.
Since 2006, 'HOTS' has seen significant growth, now employing 5 clinical therapists and an administrative staff. 'HOTS' has also recently also expanded its services to provide Driving Occupational Therapy Services.
The primary goal of Home Occupational Therapy Services is to help clients achieve and Active, Safe and Independent lifestyle through the services provided by our staff, and carrying out continuous quality improvement and professional development activities. Also, 'HOTS' aims to provide an environment and opportunities to support the learning and ongoing development of our staff.
