About Kris Wilhelmsen
I attended graduate school in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Washington, Seattle. I became interested in northwest coast prehistory while conducting archaeological research and teaching archaeological field schools in the San Juan Island of Washington State. After emigrating to British Columbia I have continued to research Northwest Coast history, and am particalarly interested in the maritime colonization of the coast, European exploration, the influence of infectious diseases, subsistence and technology, and the evolution of cultural systems. I love kayaking with my partner Kim, also an archaeologist, and exploring ancient native landscapes.
