Immigrating from Zagreb, Croatia in 1970 with no money and limited resources, Josip Mamic worked hard as a painter and decorator before starting J & M Enterprises in 1982.  Since then, the company has earned a reputation as one of the best renovation general contractors in the Ottawa area, working on such properties as Rideau Hall (the Governor General's residence), the Parliament Buildings, 24 Sussex Drive (the Prime Ministers residence), Stornoway (the residence of the Official Opposition), Notre Dame Cathedral, Museum of Nature, embassies, and other signifant historic buildings.
