The Mayor and the City has provided approximately 200 food baskets to the elderly and low income and toys for children each Christmas for the past 20 years.
The Mayor and the City currently hosts workers from two agencies to provide jobs for the elderly year round and teenagers during the summer.
The Mayor and the City has allotted a fenced in area near the highway to allow citizens to put their aluminum cans. These cans are recycled and the proceeds are given to the Benton Lions Club, to provide no cost eyeglasses and exams for the elderly and those in need.
The Mayor and the City has shown its concern for the area youth with such programs as Job Shadowing Day, Coats for Kids, Meet the Mayor (for middle school students), and its support of Police Department programs as Prom Promise (for high school), Red Ribbon Day (for high school safe drivers) and Bike Safety Day and Car Seat Check Points (for elementary students.)
