Ice hockey is one of the fastest growing sports in the world today and its popularity is evident with the sport being played in every corner of the United States.  Unfortunately, ice hockey does possess a downside and that would be injuries.  Some might be accidental in nature while other injuries could be the end result of aggressive and or illegal play.  Don Adam Consulting can assist in making that determination for you.

Don Adam Consulting was started in January of 2012 following the completion of a legal case in which a recreational level adult player was injured during an altercation in a hockey game.  Don was retained as and expert witness for the purpose of analyzing each and every aspect of the injury scenario.  It was during this consulting experience that Don realized the importance of his law enforcement experience and how his knowledge of the legal process had aided his efforts.

MISSION: Don Adam Consulting is eager to provide high level expertise and subject matter expertise as a Consultant to legal teams engaged in personal injury caused by hockey play or deiciencies in officiating.  Don Adam has demonstrated experience in providing document and video review; witness statement interpretation and legal strategy development.

As a subject matter expert Don Adam has demonstrated skills in both ice hockey and law enforcement.  He has represented both defendant's and plaintiff's while in a consulting role and your firm is assured to receive an honest and professional opinion regarding your hockey related personal injury case.

Don can assist your firm in the following areas: by assessing the skating abilities and hockey/officiating experience of all parties involved; by assessing game officials responsibilities and their job performance during a game or situation; by assessing the legality of a play or scenario; by reviewing playing rules and officiating manuals and providing applicable interpretations; by reviewing written witness statements, depositions, supporting documents and related material; by reviewing video and completing a detailed report upon request; and by providing a deposition and making necessary court appearances as required.

POWER SKATING INSTRUCTION

Don Adam Consulting can also provide your hockey or officiating association with power skating instruction that is second to none!  Don is an accomplished and known skating instructor that possesses over twenty five years of instructional experience.  In 1988 Don created Power Skating International, a business that specialized in power skating instruction for players, coaches, and officials alike.  Over the course of his career Don has worked with many young players who have moved on to higher levels of hockey including Junior "A" and Division I college hockey programs.  In addition, he has worked with officials at different junctures of their careers, many of whom are working in the National Hockey League today! 

Don actively instructed with USA Hockey and he has been with the California Referee School for over twenty three years, as their skating instructor.  Don has taught power skating in every corner of the United States, along with stops in Switzerland and Finland as well!  Don has shared the ice with some of the greatest hockey players in the world and he would enjoy being on the ice with your association's members as well!

Affiliations Awards :

Throughought Don's ice hockey officiating career he was regularly rewarded with opportunities that were afforded to few.  He was selected to represent the United States as a referee at Winter Olympics in Albertville, France (1992) and Nagano, Japan (1998), as well as officiating at five World Championship tournaments.  Don was also selected as the West Coast Hockey League's (WCHL) first recipient of their award for, "Contributions and Commitment to the Sport of Ice Hockey in the Western United States," in 1999.  Don then officiated the WCHL's All-Star game which followed the awards presentation.

Representing the Louisville (CO) Police Department, in 2008 Don was nominated for the prestigious Beth Haynes  domestic violence related award, which is named for the Boulder (CO) police officer who was shot and killed after saving the lives of four.   While Don was not the recipient, the nomination was equally as rewarding.

Future Career And Business Goals :

I have had the good fortune to obtain high levels of success in both the hockey and law enforcement worlds, but it has not been done without common sense and a little elbow grease.  Don Adam Consulting is a venture that combines my experience from two fields of work to create a reliable, unique, specialized, and professional business.  My goals are both simple and obtainable - to build a trustworthy business that will market itself!  This will be achieved by consulting on one case at a time to ensure that each case receives the attention that it deserves, while providing honest, professional and reliable service to my clients.

More About me :

Don is a native of Colorado and he is a guy who always made the effort to take advantage of everything that the beautiful state of Colorado had to offer.  This started early on when he became an avid Denver Broncos  fan at age five, a ferocious hockey player at age seven, and a hockey official at age twleve - of course there was some camping and skiing mixed in.  At sixteen Don was greatly inspired by the 1980 "Miracle on Ice" hockey team that won the gold medal and he immediately set his sights on the Winter Olympics.

With that bit of inspiration Don became the first ice hockey official from Colorado to sign a contract with the National Hockey League and the first to referee in the Winter Olympics (1992 & 1998). The most enjoyable part of his career has been his experience in travel, which afforded him the opportunities to travel from: Red Square in Moscow, Russia to the tops of the Alps in Switzerland and France; from the famous "Monkey Park" near Nagano, Japan to the famous Opera House in Sydney, Australia; and from the Iditarod Dog Sled Race in Anchorage, Alaska to the Scandinavian countries of Sweden, Denmark, and Finland.  Don's international officiating experience also included five World Championship tournaments; the Baltica Cup in Moscow, Russia; and the Spengler Cup in Davos, Switzerland.

While preparing for his 24th season of officiating in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA - College Hockey), Don has also served the Louisville (CO) Police Department for over nine years as a police officer.  As a result  of his law enforcement experience Don has acquired valuable experience pertaining to: decision making and communication, detailed and complex report writing, knowledge of and familiarity with the legal system, and courtroom experience.

Don, who is also a power skating instructor for players and officials alike, possesses over twenty five years of instructional experience and he has taught skating throughout the United States and in parts of Europe. Because of his combined experience in officiating, skating instruction and law enforcement, Don has also been retained as an expert witness in personal injury cases related to hockey.  Encouraged by his success, Don wanted to provide his consulting services on a more regular basis, at which time he created Don Adam Consulting, LLC.

Don's unique blend of  "life experience" combined with his communication skills and drive, have provided him with the necessary tools to successfully represent law firms as a subject matter expert in hockey related personal injury cases.
