About Diane Richards
I am an entrepeneur who has had a dream since childhood to own a school for older children that embraces diversity and celebrates the many ways in which people learn. I began working in highschool to earn money to put myself through college. I have worked in both public and private schools and hold undergrad and graduate degrees in the fields of special education, counseling, addiction, supervision, administration and instructional leadership.
In 2003 I decided it was time to fulfill my chilhood dream to own my own specialized school. I sold my home to give me the funding to open Kentwood Academy, LLC, a school that offers non-traditional, project based, interdisciplinary, thematic educational opportunities and experiences that are tailored to the needs of the students while providing a warm, structured, supportive, therapeutic environment.
