Derrick is one of the very few people who was not a graduate, with only a technical trade qualification.
With dedication, hard work, accept muti task and ad hoc, was given the opportunity to be promoted in the corporate world, to the position as General Manager and proven my ability to turn around business in Yunnan Leigh and rejuvenated under performed Qingdao Leigh Mardon, with more than 750 employees coming under his charge and conditiue to be re-appointed as General Manager in Qingdao Leigh Maron till 2010.
Seconded to an underperformed sites; Dongguan AMVIG Industries/Mattie Hologram Technology, one of the largest Hologram, foil board manufacturing plants in China, responsible for P&L, the transformation of sale, purchasing, production and administrative functions across two key manufacturing plants with 325 direct reports.
To turn around significant losses to Mattie Hologram Technologies and Dongguan AMVIG.
Hired by TienWah Press ( Malaysia) as General Manager, on a contract basis to direct and control administrative, sales, purchasing and manufacturing operations for the printing of cigarette cartons, with direct responsibility for 320 staff across two sites.
Ø Stabilised working environment for all staff; implemented job descriptions and KPI’s across the board and leveraged management insight into staff skill-sets to engender training and up-skilling.
Ø Improved safety standards across both sites; implemented new safety policies and significantly enhanced existing procedures to create and promote a culture of safety and responsibility.
To submit full report and proposal in terms of productivity, efficiency, additional machines to support existing process and meet new business development.
Proposed and approved to purchase 3 units of Off-line inspection machines, 1 unit of Hot foil stamping machine and to up grade existing Gravure printing press to 10 colors plus new in-line inspection system.
