About Dennis Shaffer
I was a stand out student-athlete in high school with all-district/all-area honors in both basketball and baseball at Central High school in Baton Rouge, La. Graduated from college at LSU with a major degree in computer science within the Chemisty & Physics department curriculum.
Worked at La. DOTD (Dept. of Transp. & Dev.) for several years before moving away from home to work for Chrysler in Detroit, Michigan. After several years I moved back down south to Houston, TX and worked as an hourly contractor for many of the major oil companies before settling in as a full time Shell employee.
Started my corporation in 1997 on part-time basis while still at Shell with weekend and late afternoon fence repairs and other handy man jobs. I eventually started advertising in community newsletter for helpers and managers. After numerous employee and manager changes as absentee owner I finally decided to devote full-time to my company and retired from Shell in 2008. Both full-time managers left shortly thereafter to form their own company so I basically started fresh and promoted several of my key workers to on-site managers and the transition has been nothing short of fantastic.
My hobbies are working out at the gym w light weights and swimming, playing tennis 2 times each week, and spending as much time as possible with my 4 children. I have been happily married for over 10 years to mi amor Lucy who happens to have been born in the same city (Port Arthur, TX) and on the same day (19)and month (March)as my mother! I have a 102 years young grandmother who is doing great!
I am a very competitive individual who loves a challenge. I am 51 years young and appreciate the challenges each day brings. I am a religous person who was raised Methodist but go to Catholic masses regularly. Meeting folks from all different walks of life has always been something I enjoy and now I am getting to do this for a living and wouldn't have it any other way.
