About DJ Diebold
BIOGRAPHY: D. J. DIEBOLD
I was born in Oak Park, Illinois, the home of Ernest Hemingway and Frank Lloyd Wright. The oldest of four boys within five years, attended St. Joseph High School in Westchester, run by the tough, discipline-minded Christian Brothers.
While attending DuPage College, was drafted into the U.S. Army and was a Personnel Management Specialist and Vietnam Era Veteran. Subsequent to military duty, attended Northern Illinois University, earning my degree in Sociology, with an emphasis on behavior modification and cultural competency.
At the Illinois Youth Center/Joliet, performed clinical counseling in a maximum-security setting to both gang-related youths and their families. Also gave seminars on such topics as Frustration Tolerance, Insight and Judgment, Organic Dysfunction, Behavior Modification and Suicide Ideation.
As a Behavioral Health Therapist, Author and Motivational Speaker, "I try to take a spiritual approach to life’s dynamics. To perform at the highest level, you’ve got to walk the talk and lead by example. When clarity, honesty and compassion are interwoven with the daily fabric of our lives, happiness empowers us to accomplish virtually anything we can think, feel or imagine."
Continuing to counsel, this time for Arizona State Prison and later, New Arizona Family, Inc. in Phoenix as a Behavioral Health Professional in the role of Board Certified and State Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor. (LISAC) Clinical services clientele included probationers and parolees mandated to court ordered treatment, in addition to general mental health clients.
In addition, have counseled for The Gila River Health Care Corporation providing services for the Gila River and Ak Chin Native American Tribes on the reservation, just southeast of Phoenix, AZ. This population requires unique skills and a proficient level of cultural competency.
Recently, I functioned as Clinical Liaison for the Maricopa County Drug Court. This program coordinated substance abuse counseling with periodic urine analysis testing, supervised by the Maricopa Co. Probation Department under the auspices of the aforementioned court.
In particular, I take pride in Diebold Behavioral Counseling, offering a broad range of psychotherapeutic modalities. These include all addictions, including alcohol, (DUI problems), methamphetamine addiction, cocaine addiction, heroin addiction, marijuana addiction, generalized substance abuse, depression, anxiety, relationship solutions, stress management training, DMV driver’s license reinstatement evaluations, grief, trauma and life coaching. My clients are my world and my mandated mission in life.
A prolific writer, my most recent publication, "Thru Charlotte’s Eyes," is both humorous and inspirational. This autobiographical love story was written with an inspirational warmth geared to dispel the Illusion of Separation that effects our society and our world wide collective psyche. It can be purchased at amazon.com or preferably at dieboldbehavioralcounseling.com Call (480) 650-1020 for a signed copy ($19.95) or for a counseling appointment, in person or online.
