About Anke Arkesteyn
I was born in a pitoresk town called Delft, Holland and my first job was at the Royal factory called the Porcelain Bottle where I was trained to handpaint with Cobalt oxide on every vessel they had. This was glazed and fired and turned out to be beautiful blue Delft.
I learned to paint the great masters such as "the girl with the pearl earing" by J.Vermeer. I also studied at the Art Academy. I left Holland in 1983 and started my own business in Melbourne. By winning the first price in a ceramic competition I became widely known, I do this now 25 years.
My hobbies are gardening, and listening to classical misic. I play the harp and give performances.
I will never get bored.

Attributes Success To : I had very good teachers at the Royal factory in Delft, Holland. I became a master painter. I worked there for 5 years. I immigrated to Australia in 1983 and entered a ceramic show in Melbourne. I won the first price in the professional section and first price over all the entries. My business has been successful because of my personal contact with my clients. I translate their ideas on my plates and tiles and they are always amazed about the specialty of the custom made items. They recognize the art. This old technique is more than 400 years old. Together with my graduation at the Art Academy this has produced a remarkable combination of technical skill and artistic expression.
Future Career And Business Goals : My goals are to make more people happy. And in due time I might give lessons all over the world.
