About Olav Pettersen
Olav is a retired Sea Captain with more than 50 years of diverse professional experience.
With an education from Oslo Maritime University, Olav joined the world of entrepreneurs with the launch of Pettersen Consulting Inc. in 1994, allowing him to embrace and extend his profound knowledge in a variety of facets. For the past 17 years, Olav has specialized as a Captain in the Shipping Industry, offering additional services for fishing boats, sea trips and cargo transportation.
Throughout all of his endeavors Olav has always practiced to achieve the best knowledge possible on how to secure properly on board ships, avoiding Cargo damage and maintaining a secure ship at sea. He recalls “On one trip from England to Norway across the North Sea, loaded with steel coils weighting 20 tons each, we ran into a breaker at night that reached the wheelhouse windows, it was an experience that had to be lived in order to be believed. When things calmed down and I went to conduct the cargo inspection, everything was in good shape down the holds. I must admit that gave me a good feeling.”
Olav Pettersen became involved in the maritime industry after being inspired and learning the trade from his father. In coming years Olav plans to continue being active in undertaking any and all work that he is capable of doing if it relates to ships and boats.
