About Jose Mejia
Jose is the Head of the Forensic Division at the University of Western Ontario and St. Joseph’s Healthcare London, Canada’s first community based Family Medical Center founded as a partnership between the University of Western Ontario, St. Joseph’s Hospital and the College of Family Physicians of Canada, to provide comprehensive family centered healthcare.
Earning his MD from the National Autonomous University of Mexico and his PhD in Human Genetics from McGill University, Jose continued to launch his career as a Professor and Attending Psychiatrist for McGill University and Douglas Mental Health Center. Building his reputation as a Forensic Psychiatric Specialist, Jose currently extends his expertise to assist patients with legal issues related to their disorders.
With the unique ability to help patients of all ages, Jose specializes in children and adolescent issues, providing professional assessment, opinion and consultation to handle a diverse range of complex cases. Paralleling his leadership positions, Jose also acts as a Consultant for the Center for Children and Families in the Justice System of London’s Family Court Clinics and an Attending Physician to the Sexual Behaviors Team at the Child and Parent Resource Institute.
Highly regarded as an expert in his field, Jose is a member of the Canadian Academy of Psychiatry and the Law and serves on the Board of Directors at Wallemberg Youth Center, lending his knowledge to support the decision making process.
